Hedges are one of the technical elements that characterize the Arbicsx method. They are not an operational detail: they are the tool with which the system stabilizes exposure and reduces the impact of unfavorable scenarios.
Understanding their role, without delving into excessive technicalities, helps you read the dashboard with more awareness and avoid misleading interpretations when you see positions open simultaneously.
What a hedge does
A hedge accompanies a primary position with a position of opposite or correlated sign, in order to reduce the overall fluctuation of capital. It is a technical choice built to contain exposure, not to generate extraordinary results.
- Reduces the impact of hostile market phases
- Contributes to the stability of capital over time
- Makes account behavior more predictable
- Works best if it is not manually interrupted
Seeing multiple positions open at the same time is not an error: it is often exactly the sign that hedges are working as intended.
Why they should not be closed manually
Manually closing one leg of a hedge means interrupting the logic for which it was built. The most frequent result is finding yourself with an unbalanced exposure and a dashboard reading that no longer corresponds to the original design.
If you think you need to manually intervene on a position, open a ticket with support before doing so. In most cases, it is an expected behavior to be confirmed, not a problem.
How you see them in the dashboard
In the dashboard, hedges do not require action on your part: they are managed automatically. However, you can verify that the positions are consistent with expectations and, in case of doubt, share screenshots with support for a quick check.
The limit of hedges
Hedges reduce some scenarios, not all. They are not a guarantee of a positive result and do not cancel market risk. They are a technical tool that, together with the rest of the method, contributes to the sustainability of the service over time.
Considering them in their real function, without expecting from them what they cannot do, is part of the operational maturity we ask of those who use Arbicsx.
